Our primary development and testing platform is now Joomla 3.0. We know that many of you are stuck using older releases of Joomla for various reasons and we will continue to support our extensions on those older releases for as long as possible.

All our extensions now support Joomla 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 2.5, and 3.0. Supporting Joomla 3.0 was a huge amount of work for us, with numerous API functions either removed or renamed, a redesigned admin interface, another new and incompatible version of Mootools, and JQuery now loaded by default. Luckily we are still able to build component packages that install in all the versions of Joomla which is very convenient for everyone. Unfortunately our plugins now come in two different package formats, one for older versions of Joomla and one for newer versions. The actual plugin code is the same in both cases, so we are still offering the same features and functions in all versions of Joomla. It's just the packaging that needs to be different.

MiniCalendar has been packaged as two separate versions ever since the release of Joomla 1.6 in January 2011. The chart below shows that while downloads of the Joomla 1.5 version are now falling, they continue to be significant, so we believe that significant numbers of people are still using Joomla 1.5.

We do urge you to keep up with new Joomla versions because the day will surely come when we are forced to drop support for some of the older versions. We don't yet know what Joomla 3.5 will bring but it might well be a good time for us to drop support for 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7.
